Dr. Whitney Phillips
Dr. Whitney Phillips graduated in 2015 from the University of Western States and is a proud co-founder of Move Better, which has come a long way from starting in her and Dr. Q’s garage in 2016. In addition to receiving her doctorate from the University of Western States, she received her master’s degree in Sports Exercise and Sports Science, where she gained extensive experience working with athletes.
Raised on Horses, Drawn to Healing
Growing up, she participated in many sports and was raised on her family’s horse farm in southwest Washington, where most of her time was spent riding horses. At an early age, she was showing in open equitation classes and later moved on to compete in professional rodeo. This upbringing has not only instilled in her a strong work ethic, but also a deep appreciation for the joys that animals bring into our lives.
During this period of her life she experienced first hand the significant impacts of chiropractic care not only to herself as a rider, but to her horses as well when they were in the peak of their professional rodeo career. She believes that kept her and her horses going strong and continuing to excel in what is a very grueling schedule and discipline. Her horses loved getting chiropractic care, and this soon sparked a passion to do this work as well, where she decided to take the chiropractic career path to work on athletes and animals.
Movement Is for Everyone
It was not until towards the end of school, and working with patients of all sorts, that she realized the impacts of exercise therapy and rehabilitation are so necessary for everyone in order to live a fulfilling life and maintain the ability to continue doing what you enjoy. Her love of movement only grew with the establishment of Move Better, where she has learned we are all just really training for the game of life.
This is not just for athletes — we are all athletes in our own right, and movement is essential to our survival and quality of life.
She finds continuous joy working with patients who don’t have any idea what they are capable of, educating them on foundational movement principles, and watching them rise to the challenge and excel beyond their wildest expectations. One of her favorite populations to work with is the postpartum community, who she believes have been vastly underserved.
