Dr. Michael Quasney (Dr. Q)
Dr. Michael Quasney (Dr. Q) has been helping people for over 17 years. Initially, he worked in social services, specifically in therapeutic foster care, guiding foster children and teaching foster parents and how to manage behavior. After realizing a passion for movement, he became a personal trainer and quickly found that his patients were using his services to heal.
From Social Services to Chiropractic
An easy progression brought him to the University of Western States, graduating in 2015 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Since graduating, his perspective and focus have dramatically evolved. This process has allowed Move Better to become specialist in the neurology and physiology of pain and has helped the practice create easy solutions for long term pain resolution.
He can now combine all aspects of health care into a singular focus while bringing empathy and community back to health care. Dr. Q has received multiple certifications in fitness and behavioral intervention. He loves grip strength training, handstands, squats, and barefoot running (yes, he’s really barefoot, even in the city … and no, he has never had any problems). He also trains Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is currently a blue belt.

Proud Personal Moments
- I ran 30 miles on my 30th birthday (sort of barefoot) and even wrote a blog about it! I had ridiculous limitations and standards to meet. I could not run more than 5 miles at a time in training for it and I had to maintain strength numbers the whole time.
- I ran another 30 miles after a personal training client was inspired by my run. This time we had less supplies and literally ran in the middle of a hurricane. It was raining non stop the entire time.
- I inspired a friend to run 42 miles on this 42nd birthday after hearing my story of running. I did not run all 42, but he did. It was incredible.
- I have trained over 100 foster parents to better understand the psychology of a traumatized person. It was one of my most powerful moments and taught me so much on how to talk with people of so many different perspectives.
- I started Move Better with Dr. Whitney. I did not think that medicine was being practiced in a successful way to show the power of movement. I threw out all assumptions of what medical care can be and made a system and environment that I have yet to see replicated. Our business has grown from a literal garage to two clinics and 8 employees. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, by far.
- I have been the Best Man in two weddings.
