I enjoy finding trends or patterns in all things, but particularly movement and physical health. This reductionist thinking continues to support myself and our patients in long term health and creating a joyful relationship and balance with the need for physical training. In my third career I was a personal trainer with a client base as diverse as my patient base now. Many people had injuries, struggled with exercise, and had lives out of balance with their needs. Admittedly, I was training on the east coast, which I have found to have a much worse balance between work and personal life. Here on the left coast I have the pleasure of working with people that enjoy much more of the world around them and are happy to turn away a little extra money for a little more fun.
As a personal trainer I was already striving to simplify people’s lives to be more productive and efficient with their time in the gym. The fitness industry has a veil of doing more and achieving more which remains mostly unchanged even a decade later.
